Car Restoration Tip 43: Common Sense Approach to Shop Fire Safety

Every garage where you are working on your car restoration project should have a minimum of 2 or 3 fire extinguishers. Placement of these fire extinguishers is crucial. Best policy is to mount the fire extinguishers next to a door or other exit. You always want to keep yourself between an exit and the fire. If, for example, you mount your fire extinguisher on the back wall of the garage, when you go to get the fire extinguisher, you are putting the fire between you and your escape path. If things should get out of hand, you don't want to get caught with no way out.
