1953-1960 Classic Car Engines Troubleshooting Guide: Engine Won't Start Due to Starter Motor

Things to Look For:

  1. Not operating properly.
  2. Congealed engine oil due to use of too heavy a grade of oil or to the formation of sludge.
  3. Starter gear binding in flywheel gear.
  4. Defective starter switch.
  5. Faulty neutral safety switch on cars with automatic transmission.
