Gary Schwendeman's 1947 Chrysler Windsor 4 door Sedan Car Restoration Project
Reba and Gary Schwendeman purchased this 1947 Chrysler Windsor 4 door sedan for a restoration project. The car features a 251 cu.in. flat head 6 L head with a fluid drive transmission.
Since buying the car at the beginning of 2008, he has cleaned the gas tank, replaced the fuel lines, waterlines, and the oil. He has ordered a fuel pump, tuneup kit and plug wires. He says that the car produces about 45 lbs of oil pressure and will be working on brakes while waiting for engine parts.
Gary says "I found out yesterday that Chrysler in their ingenious wisdom put the lug nuts on with left handed threads. No wonder those wheels were so tight!"
He further adds "The wife and I are going to take an upholstery class at the local vo-tech school and hope to do the front and rear seats as class projects. I have taken auto collision and auto paint classes last year. Adult education is the best thing since sliced bread." We have to agree with that last comment.
Gary and his wife Reba live in Broken Arrow, OK and Gary works at a Quik Trip store in Tulsa, while his wife works at Wal-mart part time.
Gary also included a photo of his "other car" that you might find interesting.
Gary will keep us updated on his progress on the Chrysler.
