Walter C. Baker, Fred R. White and Rollin C. White started the Baker Motor Vehicle Company in 1898. They emphasized the safety of electric cars when compared to cars that carried gasoline around or steam cars that could explode. By 1908, the year of our car shown here, Baker had no less than 12 models available. Baker sued Rauch & Lang over a patent infringement claim in 1911. By 1915 the two companies merged and became Baker, Rauch & Lang. The Baker Electric was manufactured until 1916.
