American Tourist was produced by American Motors Company of Indianapolis. Sometimes refered to as "American Underslung", the company produced a variety of models. The American Tourist was powered by a 35/40 hp four cylinder engine. In 1907 the company began to promote their new "underslung" car, where the chassis was below the axels, as "A Car for the Discriminating Few". Unforunately for the company, there weren't enough of the discriminating few and the company went bankrupt in 1914.
